A MOTHER'S LAMENT

Thank God
I am a woman.
I would fail as a man,
To have to go to war,
To kill.
How does one kill
And remain
Just the same?
How does one face death
Day after day?

I thank God
That I am a woman.
So yet, why do I weep?

I weep
For I am a mother
OF SONS

If we traveled backwards, from end to beginning, would the road, I wonder
Be the road we traveled from beginning to end?   ©das

I will weep with you, and hope it washes away this madness.

so many though, do change.
they come back from war hard hearted, callous, angry, and without a smile anymore.

They have to learn to laugh again.
But a mother, they are amazing

And to cry for your children, I'm sure you are a great one.
enjoyed
Always, Alyssa

- And so it was that time stood still -
     (blink, breathe, stand, fight)
