A Poet’s Pen

So unreliable my closest friend
A bane to all my thoughts, my poet pen
Sometimes you flow like honey from the hive
Sometimes you barely leave me here alive

I walk in sorrow, you tread right behind
I bask in sunshine, you fulfill my mind
But sometimes mind and pen need time to cope
And it is not a verse that gives me hope

I’m sorry that I need to lay you down
Until I get my feet back on the ground
Just as you often brush my thoughts aside
And let the fairest flower die inside

Yet we still dwell beneath the selfsame roof
And brilliant verses are the living proof
Your ink is etched upon a foreign wall
And others into minds that well recall

But ink is just a liquid on the page
As weak as I, when life has changed the stage
I’ll wait a bit and let the flower grow
Until your blackness turns a golden glow

For life is not a smooth and even trail
It leaves an empty line when feathers fail
The quills that paint my soul in black and white
Will polka dot the sky with stars of night

Be with me in my empty days, I plea
And soon you will outdo the honey bee

Wonderfully done, great analysis of the poet's pen.

Even if you should lend me your pen
My words wouldn't flow smoothly as yours
Because my Elizabeth, great Poetess
With all that ink I would make a mess

As usual you've penned a beauty here
And such a lust for the mind to read
When you take up your pen my dear
Your ink turns to gold indeed

Sweet Liz, if your pen won't work, I'll come to PA and you can dictate to me.

You are such a gifted writer; please don't let that pen run dry.

Hugs dear lady ...

Hi Liz,

This piece is stunning and yes so very true, my pen runs so very slow with but a mark on the white of white but as soon as I start dry to wait till some fleeting thought comes, yet nothing runs together or sence does it make. I have so very much missed you all, please be well.

Love, Cerenity
