I gaze out on the misty sea
And wonder if I'll ever be
Set free from all this pain I feel
These waves of sadness, chains of steel.

I feel the gray clouds in the sky
Press down upon my heart, I cry,
"Oh, why can't I just see the sun?
My strength is gone, my soul's undone."

I took my grievance to the Lord
My heart, my soul, in one accord,
"When shall this end, this agony?
My world's in such disharmony."

He gently took me by the hand
And set my feet on higher land
He touched my eyes so I could see
His purpose through eternity.

"Although this world will break your heart
My loving grace I will impart
So you can see beyond the deed
To look inside, to see the need.

And everything in life, you see,
That touches you must pass through Me
And though you struggle with such pain
I'll work it all for your own gain."

I gaze out on the misty sea
His waves of kindness cover me
He set my feet on higher land;
He rescued me from sinking sand.

This photograph is one that I took of my favorite seaside spot, Cape May, NJ. The lighthouse is in the distance. The photo and the poem are from 1998.

This is beautiful Denise. Gives one a feeling of comfort and safety from the storms of life. Chris

Denise, isnt that the way of Him?
to wait until we really need him
to uplift us onto the uncried tears of land,
watching the sea of sorrow lick all around us
while basking in wondrous security of His arms?
Each stanza was a poem in itself,
and they glow with life on the page.

Chris, thank you. Glad you could feel what I felt when I was writing it!

ShadowRider, yes, it seems to be His way. Maybe because we aren't "tuned" in to hear Him until we are at the end of our rope, most often? Thank you for your lovely comments!

GG, thanks so much for reading and for your lovely comments! My awareness of my need for Him deepens the longer that I live. Thanks again!

Maureen, those waves can certainly toss us about and send us in a tail-spin, can't they? Thank you so much for reading and for your lovely comments!

Ethel, thanks so much! I'm glad you found it beautiful! I'm also glad that you enjoyed my homepages! Thanks for dropping by and leaving such a lovely comment there...and here!

Noah, you always warm my heart! Thanks so much for being you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Passing Shadows, thank you for reading and commenting! BTW, love your username, if I've never mentioned that before!

enchantingvamp, I'm glad that you loved the picture and the poem and that you could almost feel those waves, and sure, you can have my autograph!

Nan, I couldn't receive a higher compliment from you than to know that I have set your feet to dancing! Thank you!

Sybil, Godheart lines...yes, I suppose they are! Thank you for pointing that out and for reading and commenting!

Elizabeth, you are so welcome. I'm glad that it touched you in your need. (((HUGS)))

Pat, thank you for your lovely and touching comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Ruth, thank you for such a lovely comment. If I have passed along a bit of wisdom to be saved for future use, that makes me very happy!
