Daddy cut up a broom stick.
I thought it was real slick.
He made it into a gun.
Oh...... that was real fun......

When…We were playing,
G.I. Joe in the backyard.
Mama worried I’d take it to far.
I was daddies little man.
Off to fight in some foreign land.

A tear touched my dads eyes.
He took my hand with pride.
Said he rooted for me the whole way.
Mama still didn’t know what to say.

Cause …I was still playing,
G.I. Joe in the backyard.
Mama worried I’d take it to far.
No longer daddies little man.
Now I'm off to fight in some foreign land.

Now I’ve got a kid of my own.
Sometimes I wish she were grown.
But I know how much I’ll miss.
The wonderful days like this.

When..We’re playing,
G.I. Joe in the backyard.
Mama worries she’ll take it to far.
But there’s daddies little girl.
Off to fight in a mans world.
