The Burglary

My wallet did stay while I went away, forgetful I suppose.
I didn’t know that such was so ‘til I checked my traveling clothes.
I borrowed some way and played the day at cards and joked and laughed
But headed home right after my roam, still feeling a little daft.

I planned it right to stay the night and play again some more.
But missing money isn’t funny. I returned to my front door.
I entered my house but found a louse had come in from the night.
The wallet was gone as I looked on.  Oh what a loathsome sight!

A window stood with splintered wood right there next to my bed
The lock’s been broken. The words were spoken.  I felt a little dead.
I had to leave, you’ll not believe but I’d a commitment to fulfill.
I left home but I’d sealed it shut with screws in the window sill.

I came from play in the light of day still feeling kind of small.
With surprise complete, twixt door and seat, my wallet lay from a fall.
It fell like a lark while day was dark and I had been so sad.
Now ugly thought of who had wrought the damage that I’d had.

But here’s the score, there’d been no gore from all that I could find.
And neither any stuff, surely I’ve enough, nor that they had dined.
Did I surprise these rotten guys who’d stepped into my lair?
I just can’t tell, but hear me well, please, to you, take care!

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

(sigh) You know, so many times my dad feels that someone stole his wallet and he looks all around for it, but the fact is he leaves it frequently in the pocket of his jeans when pulled out of the laundry drier! (big hugggsssssss) This is wonderfully said, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ken, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

I've never been burgled...
but I hear that it leaves behind
such a sense of invasion...

I'm so pleased your wallet wasn't stolen Ken...just misplaced.
Still someone had been inside and that is one horrible feeling.
Excellent write here my friend.

For Angel, Sunshine, ever present E
And Goddess too with words so fine for me
This rhymer humbly offers bows to thee
and states with gratitude "got off scot free"

Thanks to all...KJ
