Past events happened regrets of actions and words once done, not removed Such hurtful words said when anger is in the midst said in quick response Not really thought through thinking not of the results of cruel words spoken Heartless and brutal are words spoken in anger leading to actions Otherwise not done impossible to reverse done without thinking Try to remember before speaking or acting upon all your thoughts Think about results then no regrets will be of what we say or do |

Ethel, This is true of course, being careful what we say, though I sometimes sound a little more caustic than I'd like... but, never cruel and deliberately mean-spirited and unkind..... unfortunately, there are those around who do and on them, this poem is wasted. Often they do it to booster their own moral, raising their so-called level of importance if they can put you down repeatedly....a form of insanity at it's finest! But, as Dennis said in one of my poems we can pray and ask God to soften them.... All in His own time...we can know who we are and maybe these encounters are simply not much more than for the 'victim' to practice forgiveness and prayer... otherwise, I'd be locked up, smiling here.... Yes regrets are hurtful to us, even though its in the past. It still hurts as if it were still with us. Nothing is going to change, once done, never turning back. Best thing to do is to put it to the side and keep on truckin through into the future. Good luck in the future. best wishes |

Mr. Seymour, don't "ponder and wonder" too much about the words you say, Sir. Judging from what I read of yours on these pages of blue, you always think before you speak. You know, there are some folks who can be very stern in what they are saying, but their words are said with so much love and compassion, that the hearer takes them to heart without hurt or anger. I think the attitude of the speaker has everything to do with how words are received. Don't you? Ethel, i don't really face the problem that you seem to be battling against but i do have a habit of offending my friends since i take for granted our friendship and hence never think before i speak...most of the time, what i meant as a passing humourous remark brought me grief as my friends got mad at me.... we all try to be the best person we possibly can..let's keep trying.. |
