the clean lens (for Kaile) |

I snapped some shots of life yesterday. While developing the film I noticed distortions, too much dirt. Far too many objects before my eyes were covered with scum and nastiness, too many walking zombies captured by a jaded perspective, framed through an obviously distorted lens. This morning I cleaned the lens, and in the retakes of yesterday's objets d'life, I found the edges and final images sweeter and more palatable to my tastes. I must remember to keep the lens clean. |

Not always easy keeping a clean lens. And what of those with scratches? Enjoyed the lesson on attitude. |

Thanks, Ron. Yes, my filter is changeable. RS, thank you for your read and reply. Sure wish I could keep my own lens clean. |

I liked this poem. The way the character realised that it was the lens that needed cleaning, not the images.. clever. |

too many walking zombies captured by a jaded perspective, Kacy, very interesting lines...is the author disillusioned with her life and hence has a "jaded perspective" or does she merely feel that she is taking pictures of objects that other people have taken a million times before? either way, thought-provoking lines thanks for writing this! glad to know that i have inspired someone to write... i just bought a camera last year and if truth be told, i know next to nothing about photography...i am armed only with my feelings...hence, some of the photos i take are plenty awful(due to insufficient light or too much light) but i still insist on taking them...go figure...ha! show us your photos when you have the chance [This message has been edited by kaile (01-07-2003 10:12 AM).] |

Hey Kaile, good morning! If you are armed with feelings, you're armed with much more than some photographers I've known. Start with real feelings, real emotional input; the techniques can always be learned. BTW, I am a terrible photographer, but sometimes I enjoy the perspectives only 'I' can bring to a scene, from my own unique POV. Thanks for your reply, and the stimulus. |

it's actually approaching midnight in Singapore now..heehee oh yes, it's all about point of view, isn't it? Photography is one of the few activities (poetry being another ) in which one can indulge in individualism without feeling guilty...let's toast to the hope that we take lots of award-winning photos for the year 2003! |
