~* The Story Of Anna *~ ![]() Today would be her birthday, And my thoughts often do recall, Such pleasant parts of my dolly life, While I sit here in this cold hall. I remember it like it was yesterday, Even though it was 80 years ago. My Mama was a cute little girl, With curly hair always tied in a bow. She held me from morn to night And kept me from all harm I was always close to her heart, Cradled gently in her arm. She and I were inseparable, She took me everywhere. She changed my clothes as needed, And even brushed my hair. The years passed by so quickly, And my Mama got so tall. One day she left me behind on her bed, Making sure I would not fall. I get so sad when I remember And I'll never forget that day. She said, “I am too old for dolls, Anna, now I must put you away.” I spent years in that cold, dark attic. In time I surrendered to my plight, But one day I was lifted my warm hands. And I squinted in newfound light. Instead of cradling me in her arms, She pulled and turned me upside down. then screamed, “ Wait! Look what I found, Catch! Might as well take this one down.” “Must have been her favorite doll, She’s going to fetch us pretty price, Take her with the rest of the stuff, In Gramma's auction she’ll be nice.” I remembered how roughly I was held, And I think that I even shed a tear, I had never been thrown by anyone before, How I wished my real Mama was here. A lady bought me just for show, And put my in a horrible glass case, I don't think she even noticed, The tears that stained my face. I never ever got held again, And I missed my Mama so, I wondered how many other dolls Lost the love they held so long ago? I hoped that other little girls Knew to love and hold their dollies near. As you never get too old for dolls, They'll always lend you a listening ear. ~* For Tori and Tasha *~ with love ~ The soul lies buried in ink that does not flow ~ ![]() [This message has been edited by Mysteria (01-03-2003 09:25 PM).] |

Kacy ~ I hope you are right, as into the book it goes. Richard ~ It is a lesson actually - Tori wanted my old doll and I told her I had to keep it because that doll has all my secrets and I can't let her tell anyone. I told her to tell her doll all her secrets too and so on, and so on. Well you get the idea. Thanks for reading this one you two. |

Mysteria~ Lovely memories you have written about here. My daughter still has her first doll as well as her mothers first doll and they are taken very good care of. I'm sure your girls will always take care of theirs as you did...Paul "To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you" [This message has been edited by Paul Wilson (01-04-2003 06:06 AM).] |

Sharon--The best treasure for those girls of yours is you, I think. This was such a delightful story. I have my grandmother's dolls, my dolls, my husband's dolls (yes!) and mine still. They are well loved by my grandaughter. ![]() |

Sharon this is exceptional. I am sitting here crying as I remember back to my childhood and the dolls I loved so very much. I still have my 'Ginny' doll and all her clothese and furniture. She was and is such a prized possession. My daughter was never much for dolls; she was a book worm! Wonderful story. Your girls are so fortunate to have such a great story telling grammy! Well thank you one and all. This came about because I gave Tori two dolls and bunk beds for Christmas as well as a wooden chest full of clothes to dress them in. She immediately latched onto both and loves them the same. I had to take drastic measures as every time she visits she is unrelentless in wanting my ![]() Anna This doll belonged to my Mom and comes out to share Christmas with us all every year. But Tori doesn't stop there ~ she also wants all the fairies all over my house like ![]() Willow and Flutter and of course there is also ![]() Autumn in the bedroom with all the other fairies that is one of her favorites . She has even told me she would settle just to take home ![]() Holly Well you have met only a very few of my dolls, who have a ton of teddy bear friends, and I sure would love to meet yours? Thank you again. I keep your responses and glue them on the back to each inclusion into the girl's book so I hope one day they will treasure it, but I think they will as it is a called "The Memory Book". |

Nan, I am not surprised about Stacy LOL, anyone who owns a flying squirrel and plays Snow White by day would have kept them all. I saw yours too! ![]() |

![]() (tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Sharon, I'm so sorry I'm late commenting to this, sweet friend, I have been feeling glum the last few days and I know just how you feel as all I wanted when I was young was a friend even if only imaginery and my parents want me to grow up and move on and now losing Joanna has deeply tore me apart! (big hugggsssssss) I pray all little girls can hang onto their Raggedy Anns and dolls and little boys to their teddy bears! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing! ![]() May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |
