Childhood memories
from a little girls eyes
rememberingher dad
floating high in the sky
Daddy's little Moonbeam
Every morning I'd hear
That'snot gray inmy beard
but thehouse I painted last night ...dear

As i grew older
The love never died
We became close friends
Now you havewings
How high you can fly!
Above the clouds
And thetides

Don't worry about me
I can carry my own
I have my father's strength
Bronzed in Gold
A silent promise to love youmy father
Till we meet again
Goodbye my Father!
Goodbye my Friend!

Wow. What a wonderful father and an even better tribute. So very well done. Peace and courage to you.   And welcome to Passions...a good place to explore your feelings. An excellent start.

And as I like to say:

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Hello dear! A very lovely poem that I am happy to finally have the time to comment online about. When I first read this personally, it really did bring a tear to my eye. I have not experienced the loss of a parent, but I know it is hard. You are strong, dear friend, stronger than many I know well. May your courage help others to triumph over their own adversities.

Welcome to the Passionate Forums...you will find that you have belonged here all along.

W E L C O M E !

Yep.... and you will always be.  I have a daughter that's 22 and one that is 13 and both are still Daddy's little girls.  I actually did not have a lot of sorrow after reading your poem, but I found the humor that your Father expressed and the friendship that you have with your Father to be very appealing.... and the fact that you still gain strength from your Father is so reassuring.  My Mother died when I was two years old and I still gain strenth from my relationship that I have with her.  She will always be with me as your Father will always be with you. Nice to know, like you have written, that there is someone looking out for us from up above and that we have an opportunity to be with them once again.  Amen. Good job and again, Welcome.   -Bob

This poem made me smile... although with quite a few tears in my eyes.... You and I both know we will see our loved ones again.... and we see them everyday in ourselves.... They are here now.... with a hand on our shoulder when we need it most.... our strenghth, our memories endure.

Love, Light and Peace to you my friend

and...

Cherish the good memories of the past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow. But above all... be kind to yourself today.

What a lovely tribute to your father.  It was done with a touch of humor and gave us a very gracious picture of your father.

This piece you wrote in 2002 (?) I am glad that someone resurrected it and I got to read it.
