God Stands Behind There is an evergreen I see, That always looked so strong to me. Tall and stately, well branched too, I thought I'd like to see the view From where it stands upon a rise And so I walked there.What surprise, At finding not one trunk but two, Though from a distance, there's no clue, That one trunk stands before the other And behind it is its brother! The roots are tangled, not apart. I wonder if it has one heart? There is a parallel I believe. God stands behind us to relieve The stress and strain life brings our way And gives us strength to meet each day. If we are strong to face all things, It is of course, because he brings His wisdom and His love to share And hears our every fervent prayer! Just like that tree, we do not stand Alone before what is at hand. He supports us every hour, Providing comfort, with His power!
