when I read your words Lord
when I recite them back to you
does it make you smile
does it please you in some way

when I read I don't look away
or I will lose my place
and you are so quiet
I only hear myself talking

do you listen then
because you enjoy my reading
or only to cause me to hear
what you said read out loud

do you sit beside me Lord
with your arm around me
because I need it
or because you enjoy me

is it possible then
that you could love me
and spend time with me
just because you want to Lord?

I do not venture into Spritual often, but am glad I did tonight. This poem affected me very deeply and reminded me that I will always have a friend in the Lord. Thank you.
