Where Have You Gone?

Where have You gone?
I knew You so well once...
Now You are gone.
So proud, so tall
You were always so strong.

Alas, now You are just a memory.
A bittersweet agony upon my heart and soul.
At the mention of Your name
my heart stirs,
Only to fall again into the chasm of grief.

I have so many questions,
Yet they remain unanswered.
You come to me in my dreams
and with dawn's first rays You fade away.

Your face I can almost touch,
I reach for You,
yet You are only a dream.

Why must You go?
Stay for just a short while.
Let me touch Your face once more
Don't leave, not now,
Stay with me.

Linger on for just a moment more,
Let me know You are here.

I need Your presence,
just to know You are near.

Sometimes an unanswered prayer is the the one he sends, for a reason. This was a beautiful prayer, and I hope you did get your answer.
