All-In

Some people question the fact
I’ve given my life to the Lord.
They tell me the life I’ve led
Surely merits no reward.
Some people think it an act
To avoid responsibility.
As if the mercies I’ve pled
Were not being sought truly.

I guess they just don’t realize
The past still weighs on my soul –
That I’m in no way exonerated
From the price that past extols.
I’m still doing time, and in the eyes
Of the world I’m still a beast;
But to His cause now dedicated,
All of that hinders me the least.

No, the one thing that does stunt me,
However, as I look within;
Is the fact that those hurt by me,
Might never see me genuine…
That the joy encompassed might not be
A joy that they’ll come to share.
Though one who deserves it far less, me,
Now rests, at peace, in Jesus’ care.

Still, daily I take up my cross –
Giving all in Jesus’ name.
Praying He reveal to you His plan…
That you’ll know that this is no game.
For nothing earthy’s counted loss,
With the gain of Christ added in.
And, indeed, I’m not a betting man,
But you can be sure, in this, I’m all-in.

None of us could ever live a life worthy of salvation... Thankfully, it's a gift we have only to accept. *S* I'm so glad you're all-in... and pray that those who question find the glorious answer!!
