You never promised we'd be free Of sorrow and of woe. You pledged only You'd be with us As through the trials we go. As each sad step we take, Dear Lord, We feel You by our side. We are grateful for Your presence In all the times we've cried. And now although we're missing His sweet, endearing smile, We are thankful that You lent him For just that little while. Our hearts are full of thankfulness For all things you have given. And for our Jesse we so loved, Who's with You now in Heaven. For Jesse by: Grandma Johnson (just 23 and died Saturday August 8th, 2009) |

Hello Joyce, been a long time since I visited piptalk - the past years had been barren for me, for poetry writing, that is. I'm so sorry to read of your grandson's passing - we who are still left behind in this earth can just hope that in time we can still join our loved ones in that other world we look forward to going to. God bless. |

A beautiful tribute for a loved one; it's never easy to lose someone, especially one so young. --Joe Logic, when applied to people, fails miserably! --Joseph J. Breunig 3rd |

Oh, Joyce, your poem is an inspiration to see our Lord in all things. To know we are never alone in spite of the heartaches we go through as well as the hope we hold in our glorious reunion with those who've gone before us. Thank you for sharing your heartache and uplifting insight with us. May peace be with you and yours. God bless, Rae |

Joyce, I shared this piece with my 22 year old grandson, and was elated by his response: "I felt really awakened while reading "Prayers for Jesse." I've always been terrified of death, but this sort of released or opened a pressure valve on the subject. This poem was rare, in putting it all into pespective. I'd always thought of death as suffering and pain, but now I realize it can be a release and comfort, also, and "fear" is but an egotistic trait, our minds play on us. Some are allowed to die earlier than others because our Father wants them in His presence. Thank you for sharing this poem with me. I think I'll see things from a higher perspective now because of it." |

Dear Rae I know you have lost dear ones too and are much braver than you say in this reply. I am glad if you could share with your grandson and find comfort. With love and prayers for you. Joyce |

Joyce, In remembrance of my own Grandson who passed four years ago on August 9th, I'm very sorry for your loss, but, at the same time, I'm thankful for your poem because it gives comfort, focuses on, and gives strength to hold on to those precious, timeless moments that we've been allowed to share with those who we love. Thank you and God bless, -Bob |

Dear Joyce, I thought I had replied to this heart-wrenching prayer, but I have not. It is a special gift to feel loved even in our darkest hours. You are comforted by this closeness to God. I am sure dear Jesse fulfilled his purpose on Earth by entering the hearts of so many with his life. Love and hugs, beautiful Grandma and Poetess. Margherita |

Thanks friends. Jesse's Daddy my grandson Kory (Jesse was my great grandson) just stopped by to pick up his daughter who was visiting me. It was 11:00 pm and he told her to hurry he still had his walk to take. I asked him why he was walking so late and he said he had found a place to walk to to pray and he had made that walk without fail every night since our Jesse died. We each have our way of coping and these pages are mine. Love, Joyce |

Oh Joyce, I am happy to think of the day that you see your Jesee again. But, until that time - I think how lucky your family is to have you still on this earth. We are sure lucky here in PiP. Love, Alison |
