Me, I Money Pleasure Prestige Self I and Me Built pedestals To sit on So we could Relax in comfort Feeling fulfilled Forgetting others Have needs Empty stomachs Cry out in pain Do we hear their cries? Do our ears hear them? Those needing our arms to hold them Our Kisses to their cheeks Do we hear them calling out to us? Needing love Small bits of the time We spend in pleasure Or the money we've wasted Looking for a dopamine fix They question Are they important to us? Their tears fall Saying good-by To sisters, brothers Parents, family and friends Wondering if they will be next In line to perish We hold on to our money Like it will save us From what Poverty? Do we know what true poverty really is? We value our storehouses Like they Are the most important Things we own When hurricane winds Rip them away Who will be our true friend? Who will reach out to us? Where will we then find love? Will it be from the ones Our feet have crushed On our way up The ladder The cold metal tool we placed our feet upon Climbing to the top Thinking when we reached the summit We'd find satisfaction Who will reach out to us? Will it be the ones We thought bowed At our feet? Who will bow to our God of money When all we have left is each other? |

That was deep Songbird. You really captured your feelings and thoughts of alot of people now in the strange economy. There are people who are going hungry in the USA and they don't know why their stomachs ache. Loved your work |

So much truth packed in this great piece! Yes, to many, money has become their "god". They hold a higher priority for climbing the social ladder than following Christ. Let's pray they all turn to Chirst before their ladder crumbles. God bless, Rae |
