I don't know who wrote this, and I take no creddit for it, but it has inspired me alot. "Someone once told me to think of religion and spirituality like seeing someone pointing at the moon--the pointer being religion and the moon, spirit. Instead of looking where the hand is pointing--the moon--we become enamored with the pointer. We can become bogged down and enamored with the "rules and regs" and forget what those point toward--spirit. Instead of a path, it becomes the end result to many." "Be thou the rainbow in the storms of life. The evening beam that smiles the clouds away, and tints tomorrow with prophetic ray." -- Lord Byron |

Happy to have read this. The pointers in my world are Catholic and Baptist. But they do look toward the same moon. |

thanks for sharing this observation. Many do confuse Religion & spirituality, but if I read James 1:26-27 right Pure religion is beingSpiritual, but being religious, especial on a part-time basis, is far from True Spirituality. Thanks for the thoughts, danny cobb |

That makes sense to me. I see it all of the time. We are so absorbed with the person that is pointing 'the way' that we fail to see the path or the destination. I have actually been there myself. ~~~kingsangel~~~ |
