The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Touching our forehead, our chest, then touching the shoulders,
the left and the right. Amen.

Why do we touch our forehead in the name of the Father?
It is our place of existence, our center, our temple, the place
where the Holy Word came to all who have received, to all
who came before us. The place lit by God's Holy light so there
is no more day or night.

Why do we touch our chest, our heart, in the name of the Son?
It is to signify the heart given by God. Not the first heart but the
second heart that is tried, purified by fire, the heart we must be
born into to become as the child, the child of God.

Why do we touch our shoulders, the left and the right in the
name of the Holy Spirit?
It is to show respect to the Divine Mother, Wisdom herself, that
as her children we will show self restraint and not be ruled from
the extremities but that in all our actions we should be as One.

This is the sign of the Cross and the meaning of it's symbolism
for without meaning all symbols are worthless and without use.
If the world knew the meaning they would tell you but the world
cannot tell you what the meaning is because the world doesn't know.

The symbol has no power of it's own, without meaning it becomes
vanity and is misunderstood by the vain. And yet the world clings
to the symbols without power. Knowledge without understanding
is not knowledge but memorization of words and phrases that belong
to another and are often misrepresented by those who are unable to
seek out knowledge for their own benefit.

Wisdom is the key to understanding and understanding the beginning
of knowledge. Without Wisdom by his side all men are stupid and without
knowledge.

The Bible is as a beautiful Woman. She waits patiently for her lover
to come to her gate and when she sees he is ready and willing she
peeks out at him, slowly revealing herself to him, little by little,
day by day. He has come to her gate to search out his True Love.
She is faithful to him alone and turns away the unworthy. The table
set before them is filled with the finest food that will not perish, with
the cup that satisfies to quench his desire that he should thirst no more.
This is the true wedding supper where the two lovers become as One.
Blessed and Holy is this union says the Almighty, blessed and holy
is the child of this union for what eye besides his own has bore witness?

The Bible isn't the Woman, the Bible is as a garment that covers the mystery
hidden within, out of sight of men and yet none consider they are poor
and miserable and blind and without a helper their soul would be lost,
wandering alone forever.

The Man isn't skin, the skin is as a garment that covers the Man
hidden within out of sight of men and yet none consider men are
ego and of the world. The hidden Man is the son of God that men
must be born into to rise from the dead.

Many are the times the hidden Man has beckoned to men,
many are the times they have turned away to worship the
symbol without meaning. Without they worship what they
don't know and as it is written; Jesus wept.

The hidden Man is Spirit, neither male or female yet containing
both principles, the hidden light that shone in darkness and the
darkness comprehended it not. The spark within that is of God.
Blessed be he, the Holy One of Israel, Blessed be he who rose
from the dead.

That my friend is the true meaning of Easter.

Joe, I thank you for your wisdom & enlightenment. I never fully understood the meaning until now. It just goes to show you are never too old to learn,   Thanks    John

Hello, Joe! This was a fine piece of spiritual writing.

Ofttimes people blindly go through life performing like monkeys, if you will, following suit without understanding the reasons behind their actions and verbalizations. It is rather like a "Monkey see. Monkey do." scenario. In church there will be those who dutifully do the sign of the cross or repeat prayers without truly understanding the true meaning of them.

I have been enjoying your poetry and you are a very welcome new member to our pip family of kindred spirits.

Love & God's Light,
Linda

John and Linda,

Thank You both for your kind words and support!

This is the time to call out in both heart and spirit to the One above who is both faithful and loyal to fulfill what was written so long ago now and as the saying goes; if not now, when?

                       Peace to you both,
                           Joe Crow
