He received the mark in the desert bit by a serpent he didn't see he lost his sense of direction and his own identity When we brought him to the hospital they pronounced him D.O.A. the doctor said nothing could be done i said, maybe we should pray? Mother high above us who sends her holy Word unto your holy children who testify they've heard we bring one now before you whose mind is surely bruised a snake bite is upon him he's sick and been abused we do not ask you wed him and become to him a wife or let him rest beside you underneath the Tree of Life but we ask you if you'll help him and guide him with your light and teach him of your holy way and show him what is right so now we see the flaming sword placed at Eden's gate to prevent the return of any who do not know their fate. The desert is a lonely place many souls left there for dead and visions of the beast remain still wounded in the head.... "May the things I know be limited only by my imagination" |

This doesn't have a title, my computer always called it, A Long Time Ago which is fitting because that's when I wrote it... A long time ago, when Man was a baby, it's said he could talk, to God in his mind. Thought he would know, the good and the evil, took him a bite and God made him blind. So God cast him out, of the Garden of Eden, with sorrow and sadness, he sent him away Said; I'll gather you back, with a bright flaming sword, turn you around, you don't know my way. Who'd build em an image that ain't good for nothing, who'd build em a Chapel and lock themselves out carved out of wood, their God started talking, the image grew stronger and started to shout louder and louder and louder the voices, the voices were shouting like dead men at night while One Holy man with a cross for a pillow, lay down his life they'd put out his light But the light couldn't die death had brought sorrow, sorrow brought sadness, heartache and pain on a fast train to hell, with nothing to live for, he built him a gun, tried to blow out his brain the reaper was there, with his hand on a shovel and all of them voices, kept urging him on then She appeared, took his hand from the trigger, gave him a kiss and then She was gone She's our Lady to some, I call her Wisdom, maybe today, she'll stand by my side dress her in white, we'll be together forever, I'll be her Man and she'll be my bride A long time ago, when man was a baby, it's said he could talk, to God in his mind One day he'll get past, the good and the evil, spit it back out, seek and you'll find Chorus.... light shines, shines down upon me, sorrow, get off of my head tomorrow, if you'd say that you love me, i just might, rise from the dead. What good is a man, that thinks he knows something? When the liar has spoken, he gives him a nod. Instead of scratching his head, spend his day wondering, he gives him his money and makes him his God. Because there's things that I know and things that I don't know, mostly I know, the way that I feel you've swallowed it whole, well spit it back out then, find out for yourself, that is the deal... Here I am, alive for evermore I couldn't always see the beauty but I see it now somehow along the path I lost my way the lonely always do funny when I thought I was looking for you I found myself. Who knew? I couldn't always see eternity but I see it now, and I hear the lonely sing my song... Know Thyself The Gift Thought falls upon me like the raindrops each one a tender caress upon my soul my arms outstretched to accept this gift from above Thank You i cry out in my silence my spirit is quiet it has no tongue I am but a tiny spark of energy alive, electric, maybe even magic thankful nonetheless can you hear me, I say? can you feel me, I pray? can you reach me, today? Does it really matter anyway for here I'll stay till you find me.... "May the things I know be limited only by my imagination" |

Thanks John! Feel free to jump in and throw in some words of your own. I've always seen the journey as discovery myself, finding out who and what we are as people, where we came from and where we're going. Self exploration really. I like knowing that we all have our own thoughts about these things and sharing ideas and how the story comes to us can be enlightening and fun. I hate living in a box where things are dictated to us and though I have my way I know all people aren't confined by it. In the end I find that over time all things change and in a way we're just leaving a little record of how we think about things at this moment. Have a nice day John! PS, I always liked Roy Orbisons song about the Lonely... "May the things I know be limited only by my imagination" |
