There were walls built to protect myself, from many painful things I built them thick, and built them tall, against life's piercing stings. I swore I'd never tear them down, and expose my tender heart I swore I'd never trust again, as I did in my naive start. He broke my tender spirit, he walked away unscathed I felt that I was torn apart, in sadness I was bathed. I built those walls to keep love out, my vulnerability thin, but you came along and melted my heart, and gave me peace within. and in helping me overcome the past, you sent me perfect love one that couldn't be lured away, so perfect from above. It was the love of Jesus Christ, it'd been there all along, I needed only open up and know that He was strong. I had to to simply say the word, the one He knew I'd say 'Please Lord, forgive me, and take these walls away'. I felt Him smile and one by one, I felt those bricks disappear My walls are down and here I am, with Him there is no fear. So thank you Lord, for giving me back my freedom to be me And help me show your love to all, so that they may see. See that we don't need those walls to protect us from life's pain He is the Rock, the perfect One, He did not die in vain. By lacydee as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. |
