God Bless This House

God bless this house, these rooms, these walls
The kitchen stove, the porch, the halls
A child’s squeal, a little sigh
The doorbell’s chime, a wave goodbye

God bless this table we surround
With loving words and laughter’s sound
The evenings when we congregate
Around the fire , beside the gate

God bless the books, the games we play
The stories told at end of day
Adventurous trails on which we’re led
The comforter that warms our bed

God bless the seedling that has grown
A giant oak that shades our home
A tree that buds when spring begins
And sings a hymn in winter winds

God bless the hearth with dancing flames
The contents of our picture frames
The letters we have tucked away
The words that we have left to say

God bless the hearts that weep inside
Our love, our honor and our pride
The way we celebrate our days
With little things in special ways

God bless the cherished friends we make
Each Christmas tree, each birthday cake
God bless the path our children choose
When they’ve departed from our shoes

No matter where their footsteps roam
God grant they find their way back home
God bless the seasons yet to come
Of life and love, the total sum

And may my children never cease
To find within, their greatest peace
God bless their home, their porch, their roof
The love, the joy, the faith, the truth

And what a blessing you've bestowed on us with this outstanding piece!  This is just incredible!  I love every word, thought and line you've written.  Seems I see God's big smile as He receives this prayer.

Just happens, I know three parties who've just recently moved.  Your poem seemed just perfect for a card for each of them, so I've sent it.

Thank you,

What a beautiful prayer.  If everyone would ask God to bless his home and possessions what a change there could be in this chaotic world.  I hope you stay on these pages.  Love, Joyce

Liz...what beautiful words you've written here. Like Rae, I also know someone who recently moved and would like your permission to make this into a card ( with you being credited as author of course ). Hope all is well with you.
Hugs

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S
