Forgive Me Forgive me for not thanking You As often as I should Forgive me for ignoring You When things were going good Forgive me for my heart’s complaint For all I’ve suffered through Forgetting for the moment all The suffering born by You Forgive me for not recognizing All that I possess Forgive me for concealing all the Things I should confess Forgive me for not giving others All that I could give Forgive me for not living in The best way I could live Forgive me if I have not helped The poor and the oppressed For eyes are sometimes blinded By the glare of selfishness Forgive me for not using all The gifts you have bestowed In service to Your purpose And for debts that I have owed And though I know that You’re aware Of all I think and do Forgive me if I failed to share it One on one with you Forgive the sheer unworthiness Of this poor heart of mine And for the need to ask You To forgive me one more time Elizabeth Santos |

This is true. So often we forget to turn to him unless we are in need. Your poem is wonderful and to the point. Love, Joyce |

Elizabeth, Your poem certainly does bring one to a place of humility and of realization that, Yes, I too need to find a place to pray, to be open and honest with God, and to once more ask God for His forgiveness. A very thoughtfully, humbly, and sensitively written poem. God bless, -Bob |

Liz...this is absolutely beautiful. Our message at church last night was about how we should pray...you just set a fine example here. Your meter and rhyme are perfect as always. I do so love your poetry ![]() Ruth Praise Repent Ask Yield |

Hi Dear: You have laid it all out - that's a great way - of giving the Lord some thanks. May you be plentifully blessed. |

Who ever brought this one up again did us all a great favor. What a heartfelt sentiment! We are all so guilty of these very things. It's so easy to ask our Lord for our needs and far more often our wishes, but all too often we forget to take the time to thank Him for all we've been blessed with. God bless, Rae |

My dear Lady Santos... You never, ever know when such wise thoughts and wonderful sentiment might rise to the top again. May be it true for decades to come! ![]() |

A marvelous piece; we should always be ready to forgive and be mindful of Him; wonderfully written! --Joe Logic, when applied to people, fails miserably! --Joseph J. Breunig 3rd |
