Friends, cook-outs and fireworks Are ways we celebrate The independence of our country Our flag, we proudly wave A celebration, in every nation Is freedom brought by Christ Relief from condemnation And gift of Paradise Free from the clutches of Satan Free to rely on our Lord Free to walk in His footsteps Free to receive His award We're no longer bound by law We're free to live in love No longer do we fear death here Assurred of eternal life above As we unfurl our stars and stripes Think of stripes Jesus endured The red that flowed, and His crown Of thorns, as "It is finished!" was heard He paid the price of our sin in full To free us from condemnation The Prince of peace, the living Word, The Christ is our salvation |

Dear Rae, I missed finding this at the right time because I was without a computer. I have a new one and am back in business. As usual you have given credit where credit is due. Lovely. Joyce |

Rae, Big Smiles. Though I celebrated a wonderful Independence Day with my brand new Granddaughter, as I am, it's Great to read here that you're continuing to celebrate your independence long after the holiday. I loved the wonderful metaphors that you made: in particular, your references to the true independence we have as being Christians compared to the celebration of Independence Day or the 4th of July and the comparison that you made between the stripes on the American flag with the stripes that Jesus endured and, O, Yes, Jesus certainly did pay the dept in full. Amen and, again, Amen. God bless and thank you for your Wonderful Wonderful poem and reminder about what true independence is all about. -Bob |
