Striving To Be Pure

Change my heart and roaming eyes, these I know Lord, you despise,
Bar my eyes and cleanse my heart, purer than you did from the start.
Purify my heart and life this day, Lord, helping me in all I do and say,
Lord, purify this heart deep within, cleansing my life from hidden sin.

Give me my Lord a contrite heart, so from all wickedness I do depart,
And give me Lord a broken spirit, as I heed your Word when I hear it.
As I need to focus every thought, so whatever in my heart is wrought,
Is pleasing Almighty Lord, to you, and shows in all that I say and do.

Lord I need a covenant with my eye, so that I do not look or even try,
To stare or glance at anything, which causes my heart or mind to sin.
For what I let through my eye gates, will in my heart and mind initiate,
Thoughts and feelings deep within, that can sometimes lead into sin.

Christ’s Word must richly dwell in me, this in order for my life to be,
Truly pleasing in the eyes of Him, who gave His life for all of my sin.
It is The Word which cleanses me, preparing my heart for all Eternity,
Through The Spirit who lives inside, who helps me, to in Christ abide.

I need to set my mind on things above, to fill my heart with His Love,
And the things worthy of praise, throughout my nights and my days.
Striving to be blameless and pure, as a witness, for Christ our Lord,
This so my Lord can use my life, upon the earth as a living sacrifice.
