Just a tree... |

I started from a sprout you see, and grew into a tree, Created for a purpose yet it wasn’t clear to me. So tall and wide my branches grew, some straighter than an arrow, But in the fiber of my trunk, I sensed the greatest sorrow. An Angel from above appeared and said “you’ll meet the maker”, “Your branches will be used to crucify our lord and savior” “You grew so strong by his design, much stronger than the alders, For you will hold the one who holds the world upon his shoulders.” But why choose me? There are bigger trees to hold up our creator, And why does he have to die with thieves among the thorns and splinters? A perfect lamb, done nothing wrong so why does he have to suffer? For if he dies the world will change, the lives it surely alters! “It’s not your place to question; we just follow where he leads us, With his shed blood all sins are bought, our souls becoming ageless.” I felt the sting upon my skin the nails they drove into him, And with the draining of his blood the sun began to dim. I heard his final breath; I felt the earth begin to tremble, I realized that he was sent to save a world so sinful. I’m just a tree, created by, but not in his own image But I felt his love as he hung here to save you all from bondage. Amazing that he chose to use a cross made from a tree, To grant eternal life to those who pray his face to see. |

AWESOME!!!!!! I love the way you used the tree to tell the story and how the tree felt the nails at the same time Jesus did. What a story you have written in the form of a poem! I am awed by this piece. Musicmaker1969 Jesus is my Rock, music is my sanity. |
