2600 Tears of a Silent Heart 09 March 2003 Go home and ponder to lessons learnt today Go to where sleep begins thus ending after you do pray Walk upon God’s creation in slumber resting a soul For the desire the morrow would appear in a faith whole For some day Christ will present us no division of truth By way of tears in spirit guiding a path in proof As Rachel wept for her children in a silent heart Go home and ponder to the etching of image in God’s art “Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.” Jeremiah 31: 16-17 KJV © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |

Christopher, I have also felt concern over Rachel and how the "tears of her silent heart" were so badly mis-interpreted but I also have great respect for her perseverance which did produce a great reward in that she did receive the promise of a very very special child from God. Your poem and shared scripture offers much hope. Thank your for sharing and God bless you. -Bob |

For me Rachel can mean so many things, of that there is the Rachel of the scriptures and much more. Although this poem was composed I believe during a Sunday church service, often to me the word "Rachel" is used as a metaphor or in reference to a modern day Rachel, whose mother I correspond with in the USA. While I compose what I refer to as "Rachel Psalms", for her name holds such a deep meaning to me. Thank you for your comments a poet who cares |

Christopher, Smiles. Though Rachel sought the Lord also for children, I did get my Bible stories a bit confused here as I was actually making my references to Hannah. Sorry for any confusion... I do thank you though for informing me about your poem. It's true, as a reader, I regrettably do have limited knowledge and it was very kind of you to give me a little more detail about the deeper meaning of "Rachel" for you. I appreciate that. Thank you. -Bob |
