9 I spoke to God in the light of dawn Making promises I could not keep But, my flesh took over and bound me Turning my day into guilt and self defeat. That day I also lost my Songbirds keys As we waited for the locksmith to come. My real punishment was my awakening On how I had hurt my God's only Son. So now I speak to God in the light of dawn And through out the day I continually pray. I no longer make vows to the lord I can't keep. I know that I will be set free in his time not mine. The lesson I've learned is Thy will not mine be done I don't boast that I do not sin. Its by grace not works (he showed me this again) to heal my sensitive heart from trying so hard I'm exasperated.... |

I do not really understand your poem but your word choice and the way that it follows is really good!! Jezzika |

Jezzika, thank you for your reply I will try to explane. Songbird doesn't like me smoking and I'm in a class to quit. I told the lord I wasn't going to smoke around songbird and I did. Song bird and I spent a unusual day together as a result of my sin, we believe and she challenged me to write a poem about it. Well thats the result. I had to get up at 5 am to go to the doctor this am so the poem isn't my best. Maby I can fix it. I need to change the last line. |

I like your poem. Funny, I was thinking your Songbird keys, was your singing voice, as smoking does great harm to one. You know how that old saying goes when we're asked NOT to think of a pink elephant, we will. Doesn't that also apply to trying NOT to think about smoking? Perhaps a list of "To do" things to keep at would make it easier to keep on a positive thought and be encouraging by seeing all you're able to accomplish. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing. God bless. Rae |

Kimberly~ I think it's a good thing that Songbird/Marcy had you write about this~ Sometimes we do make promises that are very difficult to keep ... we slip, we fall away from the direction we know we should be following ... but, just as our friiends forgive us when we do wrong ... so does the Lord of our knowing forgive us if we truly ask His forgiveness~ Keep working toward the goal of being tobacco free ... and daily ask His help in doing so ...~ And don't forget to thank Him for each day that you succeed~ Best of success to you in your goal~ I'll be praying for you~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |

Yes we often slip and renege on our promises to ourselves, our friends and our God. But just as Our Lord and friends forgive, so must we forgive ourselves and try again. You will get there. Love, Joyce |

Gosh I thought I was in the Dog House for writing this. Frankly, I went to my group and they told me I couldn't have the patches again yet. I'm down to 7 and I'm working on less. I praise God for all 3 of your responses. The lord is making me understand that I was doing too much at once. I'm putting stopping number 1 next to praying. Thank you all for your support Love Kimberly |

Kimberly, you're more of an inspiration than you know. May God bless you richly. Rae |
