I would… If I could comfort you I would dwell within the soul of you to hold your heart in the gentle of my hand lest it should quiver And if it began to fall apart I would hold it together with my embrace I would…If I could comfort you… I would put my hands upon your face and raise your eyes to meet mine so that you would see that you are not alone I would stay so close to claim for you each breath that catches in your chest I would…If I could comfort you… I would fight off each demon that wishes to take you I would keep the darkness at bay I would keep my eyes open when you could not see through your own I would carry the pain for you until it all goes away… I would! I would… If I could bring you Peace Somehow… But Peace is not mine for the giving I would do whatever I could If I could do that for you… But I’ve learned… to pray If I pray God will hold your heart in His He will be your eyes and He will be your guide And He – only He – will show you Peace… I’ll stay here, and pray I will-- Because I know He will… -dgvarner 102705 |
