This new chapter of my life Which I was thrust into, With the loss of my dear wife Was like I lost both shoes. Immobilized by my loss Controlled by circumstance, Loosed, but shackled-as life tossed (A tender bare-foot dance). Solitary confinement Was it my friend or foe? I'd have to "hit the pavement" So I could really know. Thus I planned out a mission (For a Tribute Tattoo,) Which might incude much tension-- Test out my "walking shoes." I ventured forth not knowing How well that I would do, But courage I was showing When I got that tattoo! To me, it was just the thing Effective therapy, My heart it soothed, arm stinging 'Twas one shoe down for me. I waited for the other To drop with a dull thud, I waited for the shudder To interrupt this good. But I am still awaiting Thank God! It's gone so well, And thus I am high stepping I've broke out of the cell! My trials are not over This Chapter's still quite new, For now I'll dance in clover With a renewed soft shoe! Who knows where I go from here Or what my God has planned? I won't now fear the future I'm shoed, and so I stand! |

Love the light heartedness of this piece. Now with "Linda" on your arm, your spirits are lifted, it seems. That's great! You're an inspiration. God bless, Rae |

Dear Brother, So glad to see that you have realized that your lifes book is far from its concluding chapters. The fact that you have ventured out and have and allowed the world to see a NEW you is admirable. Life is full of suprises and I'm told that the best is yet to come. Your poem is an expression of renewed hope which energizes both the body and soul. Peace unto you my Brother, Dennis :^) |
