Remembering

Today marks the 37th year
Since our son Roderick was born here
Rebecca, our next youngest family member
Was just 22 months, born in September

From the older 3, there’d been a space
So these babies they truly did embrace
These two youngest shared a togetherness
In spite of their fights, that’d always exist

Rod was very artistic naturally
Played piano, by ear, drew beautifully
He loved nature and each of our pets
Hated war but honored our vets

Thank God, he got into bible studies
Somewhere in his early 20’s
Researched the heavens on the web
To confirm what the bible said

Unmarried, he traveled as a lineman
Until our Lord called him home again
When struck, 3 years ago, by a train
Now Rebecca’s with him, both out of pain

Thank you, Lord, for all the years
You entrusted me to bend their ears
To learn You’d paid the awesome price
So they can be with You in paradise.

Dear Rae,

I know you have been given a heavy burden to lose two of your precious children.  You are so fortunate that you know where they both are today.  love, Joyce

Rae, I think about your Rebecca, often. It was a year ago my sister passed so at this time I try to remember all of those poet friends whom have left this earth also...knowing they no longer are in pain.

Missing Wilfred Yeats, Michael Auguste,   Lyra Nesius and Rebecca,

Dear sandgain:  Everyone still misses Rebecca here at PIP.  I never knew your son, but I'm sure he was an equally fine person.

Rae, thank you for your inspired words and for sharing with us.  You are your daughter's mom and now you touch me with the same sweet spirit that Becky did through this poem...yes, I do feel it!   ....jo

Thank you, dear poets, for reading and responding so kindly. I've felt the support of this blue page family following Rod's death, during Rebecca's illness, death and beyond.

Without faith and faithful friends praying during such times, I can't imagine how anyone could make it through.  You're each a treasured blessing to me.

  God bless you.

Let me share this sorrow with you too.. remembering is ok, the pain may still be there, but there is comfort one day we will all be together with our loved ones.

sandgrain,

After meeting you at one of my threads, I researched your poetry.  I am so glad I did because I am inspired by your positive attitude after having lost two wonderful children.  I'm sure they are very proud of you for looking on the brighter side, remembering and appreciating the time together.  (I don't know if I could be that positive.)  You have my admiration.

Thank you for reading and responding.  Only our Lord can give our tragedies a remarkable positive side.  I depend on and believe in Him or I can't imagine how one could cope.

Thank you for your kindness.

God bless,
  Rae
