Here I go pushing the "what is acceptable" envelope once again...I do have a liberal approach to what is "Spiritual Journeys" and this goes out to anyone who has ever experienced a "him" especially in a faith context where it's so hard to say "go away, leave me alone". The House of God Brothers and sisters in Christ Breaking bread In community Oh the church What can I say? It’s my home And your home It’s our home And his home too I hate to say it But I shiver when he walks by I avoid "him" at all costs- The brother who I wish wasn’t It’s seems awful to say But he just doesn’t seem to get it The calls The e-mails The invitations “Thanks for offering” “Sorry not this time” “No, I can’t” Really No No Please stop No more No No difference Talk about unconditional love, eh? Somehow I don’t think this was What Jesus was talking about Love is gentle Love is kind Love means letting go And sometimes saying no Even when it’s hard And it shouldn’t be hard He’s old and scary I’m the young naïve girl But it didn’t start out like this We were just two poets Comparing notes As poetry became less of the topic And your life more I stopped replying It didn’t feel right But you kept on And still it comes I don’t know where to turn I don’t want to be mean Or make this an issue Just LISTEN I know you are a child of God I respect that And honour that But please Get out of my room In the House of God |
