Job's Woes Job was a good and honest man Who lived a worthy life. He never stole or cheated and Was true blue to his wife. He prospered in his farming; Had many goats and sheep. He shared his wealth with others and His conscience let him sleep. He loved the Lord and feared Him And kept up with his tithing. All went well until troubles came Leaving poor Job writhing Old Satan started working and First killed off his cattle, His sheep, his servants and children. Then Job had to battle For his own life when sores covered His body head to toe. He cried to the Lord for mercy, He'd no place else to go. The Lord not seeming to listen Left poor Job lying there Without a friend to comfort him Or give him needed care. They told he he was sinful and Deserving of his fate. At last they all deserted him Except his faithful mate. He asked his God to tell what He'd done to deserve wrath. He promised if he only knew He'd take another path. At last God knew he'd suffered as Much as a mortal could; And yet he'd not turned from his God. He'd proved he never would. God told him that he hadn't caused This terribly dire woe. It was old Satan's evil work. Time for Satan to go. Job, when shown that he was so much Still favored by the Lord Said he'd praise God forevermore. He gave his solemn word. God gave him sons and daughters and One hundred forty years more. He gained more wealth than ever And shared with many poor. Old Satan never came again, For his match he had met. God showed him that Job's soul was one That he just could not get. By: Joyce 2/13/05 [This message has been edited by Joyce Johnson (02-14-2005 11:12 AM).] |

Joyce, You have told the story of Job so very very well here and I am soooo glad that you ended your poem with Job being Victorious over the lies and deception of Satan as it should be told. Job truly is a Wonderful Wonderful lesson in Victorious Living and one that we can often return to whenever we get discouraged or think that we might be tempted by great loss in our own lives. Like Job, We Will Overcome. Thank you again for sharing and God bless you. -Bob |

I hope to be that faithful... though I certainly don't hope to prove it! lol I've read through Job over and over again and am always amazed at his faith. "The Lord has given, the Lord has taken... blessed be the name of the Lord." Something i need to say more often. Thanks for reminding me with your wonderful rhymes. Always, Alyssa He was a man of sorrows |

As always, you've put this story in great form, Joyce. 'Unconditional love' is the thought I always have concerning Job. We know God has it, but Job's seems the greatest example of it being returned. Thank you for sharing this wonderful story. Rae |
