When last I walked this garden, The yellow flowers were blooming to fill, Down one side and in the field As if there were too many to conceal. But now I walk the garden, When Autumn has colored the nearby trees, And only brown shades the field, Shifting the shed in waves raking with breeze. There was a fountain flowing, From a pool of gently rippling water, Now just weeds are there growing Browning for the approach of the winter. I’ll return with springs blooming, Clear the choked pool and fill with fresh water, Now it’s left to winds blowing, Till chill wind and snow is through with winter. When next I walk this garden, Forsythia, dandelions and daffodils, Down one side and in the field, Rest my dear where this garden does conceal. I felt the soul of a lost love journeyed with you down this pathway, through all seasons. Very nicely penned, Prof Gloom. |
