I gave him forms he'd sworn I'd lost-- but I had them there. I gave him pen I told him read-- then write the information there-- This, I could not do for him, it was a claim's paternity... They wanted proof of fatherhood-- they had no need of me. He complained I was unfair because I did not fill in blanks-- and then he asked the question--chill-- I answered him as my heart sank. "What's his name? The middle one?" I saw the rage in my son's eyes. How is it that he could not know? and then? he called me bitch--I died a mother's death to see the seed planted in a mortal sin-- I held my breath and prayed--for me-- "keep my idle hands from HIM..." But wonder of the guilt of sin... This he did, I can't undo. How could I see the best of you? When there was nothing there? |

How indeed! How does a father forget his son's middle name? This is a hearthugger poem if ever there was one, and so here is a hearthug. |

Ok, I'm going to try and reply to this... again. I feel that I need to. The first time I read it, I was shocked and angered beyond words. This has to be at least the tenth time I've tried to reply. Maybe I'm simply more affected than any of the other people who have read it because I still need my parents. If I thought anything I could do would make you and your son feel better, I would offer it, but I know I can't help. I still don't really know what to say, except that the poem was amazing. Kielo (wow... I did it.) [This message has been edited by Kielo (10-31-2002 08:28 PM).] |
