The war was begining To swarm in my eyes That scene of death Told me no lies Blood bitter, blood bitter The ground was red The rusty liquid Filled my head I saw the fear And the kiss of death As my loved ones dear drew their last breath "Die!" He shouted As he stabbed a man's chest I myself was a coward At my best Too full of fear I turned away prayed death and pain Would end that day Blood bitter, blood bitter The ground was red The rusty liquid Filled my head I saw the fear And the kiss of death As my loved ones dear drew their last breath Horses ran free As their riders fell Through the chaos unseen And no one could tell One girl slipped away from the battle feild And they understood She had no sword to yeild Blood bitter, blood bitter The ground was red The rusty liquid Filled my head I saw the fear And the kiss of death As my loved ones dear drew their last breath And I returned With a sword of steel I fought the war For my soul to heal By nightfall only one person alive And the sun bleed too As if stabbed by her knive Blood bitter, blood bitter The ground was red The rusty liquid Filled my head I saw the fear And the kiss of death As my loved ones dear drew their last breath [This message has been edited by Wind (10-27-2002 01:14 PM).] |

(big huggsssssss) Oh Liz, this is an excellent 100th post but so very sad, sweet friend, I pray for a day when war will be no more and all can be safe and we can be with our loved ones without having to fear for consequences of tomorrow! (sigh) This is marvelous, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Liz, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Liz, congratulations on your 100th post. This is a very well written poem, just so sad. I feel the same way about war and the shedding of innocent blood. I, too, would be so happy to see everyone on this earth getting along peacefully and being happy. Wouldn't that be wonderful??? But, I guess as long as we're on this earth, there will be wars and rumors of wars, because there is so much greed, jealousy, hate and violence in the hearts of some people. Thanks, Liz, for sharing your poetry with us. Love To All, Ethel |
