The Arranger I read a group of poems today, each piece so uniquely individual as to make me think of classical music. And while I listened to technique woven through restraint and a lack of dependence on much that my verse leans on, I felt, for a moment, inadequate. I'm not sure why. Perhaps because a narrow life seems to track exactly like so many others. I mentioned it to Kris at dinner. She smiled and said, "You mean, like a record?" It took me back. And then I thought of my Glenn Miller collection and how I like the sound a trombone brings as it slides between, easing the tension and squeezing yet another couple out onto the dance floor, or covering the scuffle of chair legs as folks smile themselves in around a table for drinks. I, too, hear music as I read... and think of writing as kind of a notation for this inner song I hear. I enjoyed your composition very much. |

"You mean, like a record?" When tenuous sounds of after all comes into the warm, and lovers hasten to recall the one that wards off harm, through the lonesome of the tune or in softest lullabye shifts the strangers from the floor, and bid a soft goodbye... |

Very nicely arranged Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

Bob I have a Glenn Miller collection too...it belonged to my dad. The trouble is, nothing to play a 78 on. I do remember dancing with my dad to the sounds of a big band, standing on his shoes around and around the living room. Your poetry is like a string of pearls, simple in one way, but also complex. |

Serenity Blaze ... Thank you. I agree, music is so important. Sunshine ... Thank you for the verse in reply. Had I your gift I would respond ...to your response... in like manner. Smiling. Kethry ... Thank you for taking a moment to comment. We are mindful of our southern friends of late. God Bless. Martie...Ah, a string of pearls. That's a good one. Thank you. |
