stupid mosquito doesn’t realize winter’s on the cusp of the horizon thinks she can fight her way through the pane come in an grab one more for the road maybe unload some form of catastrophe upon me I’ll not fall for her knocking though Oh, no! She’s not getting in here, no matter how dear her cries try to mesmerize and draw me to the window creeping she’ll not convince me that winter’s sleeping and summer’s bent on its keeping Oh, no! I’ll not open up to let in the liar’s promise of warm warm enough for mosquito so warm enough for me ha, ha I know better the chill that tickles my calves and ankles it tells the true nature of nature today, so, Stupid Mosquito, Go AWAY! ©October 19, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
