What kind of vigil, the lady keeps,
waiting for the love she claims.
Instead of looking deep inside,
for strength and goals and aims.

She thinks if she waits long enough
true love will then win out,
but, the lady doesn't see as yet,
what the game is all about.

Why waste herself on a single
                           person,
when there are so many others
who need the kind of love she has,
the warmth of nature's mothers.

What is she so afraid of?
When will she ever learn?
To get the love she seeks so much,
she must always take her turn.

Don't pine away, dear lady.
Feel sorrow another day.
You've been given special gifts;
use them in the kindest way.

Go find the tortured children,
the families battered by abuse.
Go seek out weary folks so old,
who forgot the tender touch of
                          youth.

Give yourself to the ones so lost;
touch them with your patient care.
Spread your grace with your free
                             will,
and, love will find you,
                       everywhere!

..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons..
        "Desiderata"

Sometimes we need to think of others and keep in mind the positive influence we can have on so many lives.  In doing so, it helps keep our own life positive.  Excellent words, Pat.

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

A universal truth here (even for a "he").
