*This was a challenge from another site to write a poem or prose using the images of a shallow grave. I challenge you to write. Yours doesn't have to be this dark.

Crunch, slosh, squelch and plop
I pray these sounds will never stop
for when they do the grave is done
and I will no more see the sun

Gagged and bound; what can I say?
I'm not quite dead, yet here I lay
waiting till the grave is done
to cover me and steal the sun

Battered, bruised, beaten around
to end my days here in the ground
here in this place that no one knows
in shallow grave without my clothes

I took a lift that led to here
a smiling face allayed my fear
at first there came a gentle ask
and then the ropes, the pain, the task

Too far from home to raise a cry
as battered, bruised, beaten I lie
here upon this sodden ground
knowing soon I'll not be found

Eyes held shut against the sound
of soil moved, unhallowed ground
I pray some stranger may walk past
but know deep down, this day's my last

Now bitterness has taken hold
as tears squeeze out from my blindfold;
Unknowing, I stepped in that car
to die alone, from home afar

I fear my parents will not know
what e'er became of their sweet Flo
beaten, gagged brought here to die
to hide the deed, from eyes that pry

A shallow grave is all I'll see
must say goodbye to family
crunch, slosh, squelch and plop
I pray these sounds will never stop

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Kethry, This should teach someone to be wary of hitchhiking, huh?

Kethry,
A palette knife full of umbres. A strong painting but not of my taste. But it does catch your attention.
