Carry All

Sometimes, she just waits
to see if that dream
will come

as much as she fears it
[for she startles herself awake
in the falling ones]

she looks forward to it.

Some days
it is all just too heavy
and she finds herself
hoping

on strands of string

that she could loose herself
of it all

as she forgets about the dream…

it is then, late at night
collapsing amid sheets of quilts
quitting the real, reaching for Morpheus
that it may come….

it begins in black
some side street named Maple Drive,
she believes,
with large oak trees lining and
always spring greened,
though sun is no where around
as moon is hiding, too,
so perhaps it is just spirit light
that illuminates…

she never knows…

power lines stretch overhead
and she knows that if she lifts, she
must avoid them,
beware, be ware, be a ware…

will it come?  Will it be there,
the slight breeze that must be, so less
than tentative, a faltering feel
but please, please, please comes the beg,

arms outstretched, be aware of power lines,
look out for oak limbs reaching,
snagging, drawing back, pray to limbs
let me be

and she lifts, holding her breath,
she must be, gasses amassing inside
like helium
allowing lift, for she is not breathing,
don’t break the moment,
more fragile than any bubble,
more fragile than
love,

lift, lift, and fly above it all…

then just before the question
how high?

It’s done.
Over.

Laced curtains peek gray streams
Of beginnings,
Somewhere the red bird sings

She closes her eyes
Looking behind her own orbs,
Knowing it was there,
For a brief moment

Then begins again
To carry all.

Sybil, our dreams help us to "carry all" sometimes, don't they?

Very descriptive write gal...sometime dreams are wonderful things to remember..other times you hope you don't remember them when you awake........

I had a dream one time I was a school desk in a 9th grade classroom and some little prick was carving his name in my back....I remember the first five letters even today....they were "B-A-L-L-A"....
