No longer will the sleigh bells ring,
for Santa Claus kicked off last night.
The doctors said it was his weight.
I tend to think that they are right.

Cholesterol was pretty high,
fondness for sausage did him in.
High blood pressure caused rosy cheeks,
only a matter of time, when.

He kicked the bucket, croaked I say!
Christmas will never be the same.
No longer will I decorate.
No more gifts?  Well, his weight’s to blame.

The ho, ho, ho’s will be no more
and roof repairs won’t have to be.
No longer cookies, glass of milk,
we’ll get used to it, wait and see.

Instead, I think I’ll celebrate,
give praise to Jesus Christ, the Lord,
give Him the present of myself
and let Him know that He’s adored.

Poor Santa, he had been such a jolly ole soul---but his time had come! He had been usurping some of the glory that rightfully belonged to our beloved Jesus Christ!

Holy Jingle Bells!

~~Giggling~~  Michael, I'm not sure the children of the world will be happy to hear this news, but personally, if I don't have to shop, I'm happy.

I also find it bothersome how Christ is no longer an aspect of Christmas.  Sickening how materialism runs rampant during the time of year when our hands are meant to be folded in prayer, not filled with gift boxes...

It's an economic holiday now.  Thank you for reminding people what Christmas is really about, Auguste.

Thought provoking poem...Santa was intended to symbolize the spirit of giving...now he's used to create spending..

believe in what your heart feels...

The true meaning of Christmas still lives in this poem, but I don't think Santa needs to die, he does bring lots of joy to little ones.  I enjoyed the fun and meaningfulness of this, my friend.

(smiles) Or better yet, Santa can ask to team up with Him and deliver the presents together, so our children get a little of both and never does one overshadow the other! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, you speak with such wisdom and comfort, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

LOL. Poor old St Nick!
And the next year some very small child asked, "Who was Santa?"
And no one knew the true story.

Everyone, thank you so much for your wonderful replies.  Heck, you made feel so good that I might just have to resurrect ole St. Nick. LOL  *hugs* and an early Merry Christmas to each of you and your families.
