I Need More Time It’s been so, damned, hard these last three years I miss your voice, your touch and tears. Life without your gracious smile, is an endless road of barren miles. I wanted to die but I’m also a Dad Your daughter misses you, she’s still very sad. Twenty-one years went by like a day, Compared to each hour since you passed away. I’ve something to tell you, I know you won’t mind. We discussed how you felt about whom I might find. As it turns out, someone found me She asked me my name on the pier by the sea. I go there quite often. You know why I do! It’s the place we shared sunsets. It's the place I met you. Attracted to my ”quiet demeanor” she said, Her face, a silhouette on background of red. We went out a few times It was awkward at best I was emotionally confused, not much fun I would guess. With an inquisitive smile, she looked me in the eye And tried to determine if I was simply just shy. So I told her about you, our life and, the end I pretended to be fine to my newfound friend. A tear slipped down her cheek then pressed against mine She gently whispered in my ear “you need some more time” “I don’t think that you’re ready, I’m sorry” she said, kissed me and walked into a sunset of red. Now I miss her too. |

Fishop, this poem left me smiling with sadness... Very nice flow and strong imagery blended with emotion, both stated and implied. -MVS "AS ABOVE SO BELOW" |

I loved this poem. It is so sweet and sad. And speaks of something we all wonder about as we realize that one day we'll leave those we love behind, and wonder how things will go from there in their lives. |

Tom, I liked your poem, and I felt lots of emotion in it. If it's about you and your wife who passed away, I know exactly how you are feeling. My husband passed away in 1997, and you would not believe all the people who have wanted to "fix me up" with someone else. I never knew so many people had brothers, uncles, cousins, friends, even Dad's......just any male figure they could think of, that they thought I would be interested in. Well, I let them know real fast like that I don't have to have anyone to "fix me up", and if I want to find someone else, I could do it on my own. Anyway, someone else is in my life now, and I do have moments when I feel like I'm betraying my deceased husband and wonder if this is what he would have wanted me to do.... A sad but beautiful poem. It touched my emotions. It's amazing how the heart can hold love forever, even when the object of the love is no longer physically there. You can never win or lose |
