Turn off the spigot Of God’s gift of creative flow Put it on the back burner of life Destroying a pride of self worth Stagnant waters of the mind Decaying from hidden exposures The act of sharing your verse With your fellow man The seeds of your mind Germinating and bearing fruit So ripe in visions That they can be tasted in its imagery Words of mental images Caressing the winds in tender textures So warm they melt into you In the chill of new found awareness Icicles so mentally cold Joining with flames of burning passion Freezing into your memory Burning in torrid desires The eruptions of who you are Need to flow on their natural course Unhindered by an imprisoned fear That chains you to a life sentence Of negativity which cracks mirrors In shattered lives Release the bondage which is self imposed Release the wrapping around your inner soul Let the naked truth shine in its glory A brain unconstrained willing to fly free In the spirituality of immense beauty Never let anyone dampen your spirit In the guilt of who you are And what you have done Do not let the judges of accepted norms Hide the masterpiece of talent within For the only reason to ever change Lies deep within your own choosing Open the spigot in fresh waters Flowing from the elixir of self intoxication In a burning fervor of blossoming fragrances Exposing the inner delight Of your dynamic personality D.Lester Young 12/11/2002 Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) |
