Today I went running down the road to Nevermore. It's the same road we once called Evermore. Not that I'm unconsolably sad, mind you. That numbing emotion was suppressed long ago by those little bottles Rx'd on the shelf. I don't need them anymore, never really did. I flushed them all down the drain then laced up, ran a mile in the rain, imprinting soles and memories in the mud. That's where I left the last vestiges of you. So why am I out here running again, at the end of the road of Nevermore, kicking that damn mud out of my muddied sole? |

Kacy, outstanding...and you could have written sole as soul....or was that an intentional slip of the pen??? |

Magnus, thanks. I debated over that ending, whether to go with the soul or the sole. Readers can nudge me either way. ![]() |

Midnite, sometimes just when you're about sure you've gotten over it you find out you ran in circles and right back into it. Do not change a thing, whatever the spelling the implication gets through, a brilliant wordplay. |

OK, Raph, thanks for that feedback. Now, I need keyboards and a guitar so I can really wail! |
