Locked Away
By: Krystopher Morris

Locked inside
no where to hide
Lost all chances
of a free ride

Behind these walls
we cry at night
Knowing what we did
was not right

We miss our friends
family, loved ones, and life
Some of us shouldn't
have picked up that knife

Made a mistake,
picked up a gun
Now we're serving,
because we tried to run

Serving this time
loaded with grief
Wishing for the ocean
and diving on the reef

In a concrete playground
we spend our time
Like a merry-go-round
Can't control our own lives

Poetry is love and love is life.

Deeply distraught images in this work...but to know that someone does control our life...and we steer. Prayers to you.

This is touching and I think you probably captured a little of what it is like. I was in touch with a woman in prison for murdering her husband and his lover (there go I but by the grace of God)... she found God and Christ and has the ability of counseling ~me~....amazing how one's life can turn around, no matter where they are. Thanks for this reminder of how one horrific raging mistake can lead a lifetime of hellish conditions.
Never know if poems are personal experiences so will just say God be with you....

Hugs, Pat

Thank you both for replying to this poem. Its not a personal experience. I was thinking of how much I felt hurt when my uncle was sent to jail, and then I started to think of a friend and how much she misses her uncle as well. He made a mistake but not one big enough to put him away for life. I don't know when we will have a chance to say "Hi" to him again but some day we will.

Poetry is love and love is life.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Krystopher, I know just how you feel, whenever someone goes to jail, unless that person is wrongfully accused, I don't have the most sympathy to the person behind bars, but their families is who I sympathize for and the shame they have to endure! (sad sigh) This is heartfelt, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Krystopher, thnak you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
