How swiftly flies the blizzard in the eyes of change and thrill
An adventure to be conquered, on her own in steadfast will
In the linen cloth that covered every treasure of her worth
Little Annalee beside her, giving courage wrapped in mirth

On the fly beneath the gray sky, Katalina took the reins
Gathered up the little princess, with conviction by the manes
Thick and burly drove the oxen through the muddied trails of yore
A single lantern split the shadows on her own, and not so sure

By her side that sweet pup Livie, kept the navigation's true
There accompany so sweet Annalee, such bright eyes so truly blue
Into unknown territory, with no promise to be seen
Rugged passage to the Promised Land, ventured on a faith thought lean

In the distance sat a rider, on the fringe this Granger sat
With the broader view so watchful, in a full two-gallon hat
By the daylight, on they wearied, with the full wind in their face
In the night watch, somewhat dreary, guardian eyes upon the place

Was the Spring when a westward trek begun
As wagons journeyed in the gold sun
A woman, a girl,  tall man in a hat
The snow, in whirl, a dog and a small cat

Her fears, a burden she kept close to her
These miles they’ve trodden, desolate for sure
Her eyes did tell him of worries to hide
and now this stranger beside her will ride

Will a woman, so small with child and dog
complete the passage as breath falls in fog
Alone in heart thought Granger guards them well
Her fears. passions, are secrets not to tell.

The wagon rolls upon a weary trek
as stars above, a shimmering bright speck.
Ever watchful friend his arm enfolds
Woman, child, and all that wagon holds

In the honor of friendship, truly a blessing to be thankful for.

I cannot tell where one begins and where one ends...isn't that the true result of a collaboration!  Brava/Bravo...

Katalina....err.....Kathy,

Always a pleasure writing with you...the
idea of this...tying into your own trek
across the upper reaches of the U.S. of A.
was a fun thing to contemplate and write..

Enjoyed this,

Thanx my friend...
