When Did I Last believe? When did I last believe That you were still my friend? Let me think. I know, it must have been At, or near the end Of my marriage. Yes, I remember now….. I was such a mess, What with both the babies, Down with croup, Me, with cramps and bloat And he, working late again. And what about that matchbook In the pocket of his best coat? “T., Fri., Angelo’s”. And that credit card receipt for- “gold locket, inscribed,(xtra chg), Customer will pick up.” The one I didn’t get On my birthday. I got a grocery store rose And no card. Of course I was upset! I needed you then, It was all too hard for me alone To figure out. That was the moment I last believed You were my friend. Then he was home, Your scent, serpent-subtle On his clothes. God, I remember how your throat Sparkled with new gold When I showed you that lousy rose! I told you secret things, Named the baby Tanya, after you. When I believed Before I knew. |

Wow..this CUTS! I love it. I hope, if this is from real life, that you've left this 'friend' behind you! If it's not real, then you're a good writer! I enjoyed it. And yes..it's time. |

Twice bitten by betrayal. Powerful words for sad sad memory. |

I'm bleeding now, recollections of a worse time...a time that I went through what you've written here. (except he used her middle name instead of her first) |

Ouch.... betrayed multiple ways... this does indeed cut..both in the betrayel and the thoughts you have.... |
