"Hey! I believe I know you".
A voice called from the rear.
I'd just hit town and saw the bar,
And stopped to have a beer.

A blue-eyed blonde pushed through the crowd,
And smiling up at me,
Said, "Were you in the Finals,
In nineteen eighty-three?"

I nodded, but was puzzled-
She couldn't be eighteen.
But somehow looked familiar,
Like someone I had seen.

She said, "You wouldn't know me,
And that is truly sad.
My mother won the barrels that year,
And says that you're my dad."

The years were gone in seconds,
I went back to that night...
The roaring crowd, the sawdust,
The glamor and the lights...

A motel room in OKC-
A girl, a drifting man...
I stood confronted by the fruit,
Of a one night stand.

Gunslinger, I feel sorry for the young girl.
Like Paul said, this could certainly be true
for a lot of people.
You made it sound very real.

Gunslinger - this is an excellent write!! You could almost do a series on this one poem. Just a thought. Enjoyed. Chris

A little slice of real life. You told this so well. Enjoyable to read.
