Agony

As I sit here in my cell
Living this nightmare of being in hell
I hope someone will listen to the story I have to tell

As a young man it started for me
Always wanting something for free

A dollar here a dollar there
Getting what I could from anywhere

Running the streets late at night
A chip on my shoulder looking for a fight
Never doing what was right

Getting high night after night
No future for me in sight

Needing a fix to make it through the night
Stealing a gun and killing the first person in sight

A life in prison for a night of crime
Just like my friends we’re all doing time
My life not worth a single dime

In the hole I go no end in sight
Here they put me for starting a fight

Twenty years it’s been since I took another’s life
Twenty years of hell I live each day of my life

Why did I turn to a life of crime?
This question I ask myself time after time
Life’s clock now strikes its chime

Tomorrow they will come for me
The people that hold the key

Tomorrow I will pay for my crime you see
Tomorrow the grim reaper will come for me

~~~~
I don't have any compassion for criminals, I only hope that the killing would stop. This is my plea.
Paul I really thought you were an inmate in a prison who was allowed to use a computer. You had me there, man! Dont we all want it to stop? It's like a disease, isnt it?
I have sent you nothing but angels, and I have placed nothing but miracles before you.
Eagle Scorpion...Sorry for the confussion.
Thanks for the reply. It really is like a disease.There is no sense to all the killing
of children and innocent people in todays world.This is just something that passed thru my mind about a year ago. I often write about how I think other people feel...Paul
(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Paul, this is so very heartbreaking, sweet friend, my heart goes out to all the children of the world and I pray that this all can stop and the mongooses of love can feast upon all the snakes, the intentions in which lead to hatred and violence! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, I send angel hugs out to all he world, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Paul, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
Love,
Noah Eaton
Paul, I was relieved to read your comments at the bottom! You wrote so convincingly, I truly believed this was your story!--Glad it wasn't!
You wrote with such "convict"ion! This poem should be posted in every highschool! It certainly paints a very bleak picture for anyone heading for a life of crime and how a single violent act can alter one's life forever.
Very well written and conveys a very important message.
A very apt description of a personal Hell inflicted on others. You worried me for a sec, I thought you'd fallen victim to a few of the lesser local traditions...
and? Rest that elbow! You get well soon.
Earth Angel~ I'm so glad you liked this.
It could be anyone's story that takes the wrong road down life's highway and like you I would love to see the youth of the world made more aware of what could happen just by making one wrond choice.
Thank you for caring...Paul
Hello Paul
Your words chilled me to the bone and were so well written.  I'm sure many would think you were writing from personal experience.  It's nice to see you here again and I hope all is fine with you and your family.
Take care......Sue
Smart Chick~ Sorry to make you worry Sue
This is just one of those poems that I sometime write about other people rather than myself. I am free as a bird, but then we are all prisoners of our mind and feelings one way or the other.Thanks for reading & the caring reply...Paul
Suetang~ Hi dear lady. I really appreciate you taking the time to read this. Sometime my mind sort of wanders and I write about weird choices & bridges we all must face & cross and this is one of those times.
Had it not been for caring people in my life when I was younger this could very well have been a true story but it's not.
I had surgery on my left elbow about 2 weeks ago, and haven't been able to do much posting.Thanks again for caring...Paul
Paul, this took a lot of talent. It really sounded like you were a prisoner. You really should send this to schools where young people could see what one night of crime could cause to happen.
Thanks for sharing this poem. I love to read your poetry and have missed seeing you here.
Paul, very good in an ethereal way.  Experientially, it is difficult for me to distinguish between the line of being a victim and becoming a criminal.  My mind can always take me where I have been, so in some ways it is society's responsibility for making young victim/criminals.  Parenting, education, mentoring and role modeling, spiritual direction are all factors.  So the home first, then society, has the responsibility to prevent young minds from becoming deviant in re: the social norms.  A very good poem.  thank you
