Flowers~*~from the Soddie

My love, he took indigo blue
Captured up Queen Annie’s lace
Dressed a cornhusk dolly, too
Gave her such a style and grace

My love, he took indigo blue
Then took me by my hand
Told me, I love you true
As we walked along our land

My love, he bent his back
He broke the sod and green
Worked without any slack
He walked so tall and lean

My love he took indigo blue
Then took me by my hand
Told me, I love you true
As we walked along our land

My love, he farmed our valley low
But up there on our hill
He let the wild indigo grow
And Queen Anne’s lacy frill

For my love took wild indigo blue
Captured up Queen Annie’s lace
Dressed me like a maiden fair
Gave me such a style and grace

My love he took indigo blue
Then took me by my hand
Told me, I love you true
As we walked along our land.

A farmer and a gentleman, or was that...?  Sorry, feelin' goofy tonight.
I liked the line repetition, worked well.  Love the choice of flowers.

Karilea, I like this. The flowers were beautiful, too.

*smile* I just had the kindest thought I have had about men in the last few months. I'm recovering!

Oh no...

If I can stop laughing at Kielo, as I ditto that sentiment (and I am not cured), I have to tell you how this almost changed my mind about the opposite sex, because it is just so perfect!

You can capture the love of a moment so
well.  So very expressively...  as you have
within this poem...of a time and place when
life was far less complicated though very
hard and demanding...
