~* As Mothers We Just Understand *~ She hopped up and sat right next to me. She had no shoes on her dirty feet. She was a cutie patootie alright, mass of curls and dimples so sweet. I said, “Where is your Mommy honey, you shouldn’t be here all alone?” She smiled and pointed, "See, that's her, she’s in line over there at the phone.” “She told me just to sit with you, and she said that is an order, you see when we were walking here I found a shiny, lucky new quarter!” Suddenly she smiled from ear to ear, with excitement, her story began. She took from her pocket, a folded picture of a very nice-looking young man. She said, “Mommy’s making a call for me, see I need those red shoes over there. Did you ever see The Wizard of Oz? Red shoes can take you almost anywhere." "Daddy is a lawyer now in heaven God needed him to keep the law, but I need his help too right now, because those red shoes are in the draw." "At Harbour House the very best shoes are won by drawing tickets out of a hat, Mommy's calling Daddy to help me win, so what do you think of that?” I said, “Young lady, you are very smart, I see on your ticket you’ve got the number two, I’ll be watching as they draw for those shoes, And I hope your Dad comes through for you.” I knew I could make that wish come true, So when her Mom came, I smiled and said goodbye. I hurried over to the volunteer’s booth trying really hard not to cry. When it came time for the draw of the red shoes, all the blue pieces of paper said number two, The minister looked all around so innocently, I thought that he played his part really well too! We made sure she got those fancy red shoes. Her face glowed as he called, "Number two?" She shouted, “Oh, thank you, thank you Daddy, I always knew I could count on you!" The Mother came over after her dinner, with tears in her eyes, she took my hand. There was no need for words to be spoken somehow as Mothers, we just understand. ~*~ For a very special little girl named Chantel who now has a bright, new, shiny pair of red patent shoes with thanks to her Daddy ~*~ shoes from Babyultimate.com Howdy Neighbour Sharon [This message has been edited by Mysteria (10-15-2002 02:52 AM).] |

i don't know if i'll read much more of your work, its soooo sad. as poets and authors we so often contrive tragedy, and sadness, and loss. but people like you remind us its real, and only as far away as under the next overpass. |

Sharon, this is so sad, but very good. When I was in the 3rd or 4th grade, the teacher got all of us kids to bring a little money from home to buy a new pair of shoes for a little boy in my class. He was so proud of here stood on a little patch of grass at play period so that |

Everything you write is real, that's what makes it so wonderful. Your poetry touches the heart every time. Because your heart is so giving and it comes out of your pen as well as out of your deep compassion. Thank yoou for this beautiful story Love ya Liz |

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Sharon, I too got tears in my eyes reading this, Chantel sounds like the sweetest little girl and though my heart goes out to her for mising her daddy I know with all my heart he will always love her so much and he helped her get those red shoes so she can follow her heart anywhere, do anything her heart desires, and find her Emerald City over the rainbow of her dreas with his love guiding her every step of the way from father to child! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet Sharon, I think now I actually feel a poem coming on, I just have to add this to my library because innocence is something that touches me greatly and that I value deeply and this girls heart is filled with it, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

Sharon, what a heartwarming way to start my day. There are tears rolling down my cheeks as I think about this little pumpkin walking around so proudly with her new shoes. There are so many children like Chantel is this country. When I think about the greed and waste and how much good that excess could do, it breaks my heart. God bless you for writing and being such an important part of a poignant story. You are one terrific lady...hugs, Marti Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. |

Sharon, Your caring heart has touched so many lives. What a precious story and what a gift you are. Thanks. You make Thanksgiving something extra special. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

This is precious, Sharon... Its so wonderful that her "Daddy", in heaven gifted her with those beautiful shoes. How wonderful that she has a guardian angel looking after her and this is something that mothers do understand ~ angel hugs from one mother to another Lyra |

Dawn and Irie, you know the nicest part about this place we can all share what goes on in our life with one another, and yup, sometimes we cry, other times we laugh, but through it all - we feel right? Thank you. |

The most wonderful part about being able to write something, anything, is that we can learn something from it, and that works both ways as I have learned there are some very incredible people here, thank you! |
